From Tania McInnes – Chief Grants Officer
Advocacy WA is excited to announce a unique partnership with VALID, (Victorian Advocacy League for Individuals with Disability) in the development of resources to support the work of Support Workers in the Disability sector. This work is supported by input from members of VALID’s Peer Support groups, and AWA client feedback around their experiences and provides useful feedback and insight into what makes a great working relationship that can benefit both parties by increasing job satisfaction, ensuring greater clarity of role and purpose and certainty of expectations in the workplace.
AWA has been working across the south west of WA since 1991, and VALID is an award-winning organisation that has been at the forefront of advocating for people with a disability in Victoria since 1989. Both agencies have worked to develop information, resources and provided advocacy to empower people with disability and their families, and come together in a joint collaboration to develop these resources for people living with disability, their families and support workers.
This project provides the opportunity for both agencies to work together in collaboration with clients and project team members to develop the script, format and content of the resources including video production.
We will keep you posted on our progress and look forward to the release of the video and resources to support you along your journey!
