National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Access and Appeals

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) funds services and supports for Australians living with a permanent and significant disability.

The NDIS is available to people aged 7 to 65 who are Australian citizens living in Australia. If you or someone you know has a disability and would like to talk to someone about accessing the NDIS or about what is in your NDIS plan, Advocacy WA are here to help.

How can Advocacy WA support you:

Applying for the NDIS:

  • Collaborate with your support team to identify relevant evidence, such as medical reports, assessments, and other documentation, to support your NDIS application.
  • If you prefer a phone application, assist in making the initial call to the NDIA and ensuring you have all necessary information on hand.
  • Guide you to complete necessary application forms and documentation. Provide clarity on each section, ensuring all relevant information is accurately presented.
  • Facilitate communication between you and your support team, including treating practitioners and allied health professionals. Clarify what evidence is required from each part and guide them through the process.
  • Assist in reviewing the completed documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Address any discrepancies or missing information before submission.

Appealing an NDIS Decision:

  • Support you identify the reasons your application was denied by carefully reading the decision letter from NDIA.
  • Support you to gather any identified required evidence for a review of decision.
  • Support your request for review of a reviewable decision (RORD) through phone call, email or in person.
  • Support you to do an external appeal application.
  • Support in seeking legal advice and attend those appointments alongside you.
  • Attended case conferences, conciliation, and hearing with you.
  • Support to gather additional medical evidence requested by the agency (NDIA). Clarify the specific information required, deadlines, and any additional details to facilitate a smooth external appeal process.
